How to Make Holiday Shopping Stress Free

Holiday day shopping, whether done early or at the last minute, usually turns out to be stressful. Here are a few hints to help you avoid that stress and enjoy the holiday season.

  • Strategize your gift list. Jot down a list of names with a gift idea next to each one. Then make a second list, breaking down your gifts by category. This way, when you’re in a certain store, you’ll have all of those types of gifts grouped together in one spot.
  • Pick a theme. Are you wracking your brain trying to come up with gift ideas? Make it easier by choosing a theme and going with presents that fit that theme.
  • Select a go-to gift. You’ll probably need a last-minute gift for someone. Prevent last-minute panic by stocking up on one nice gift that can be used in case of emergency.
  • Shop at a particular time of day. Survey have shown that customer service and satisfaction is highest when stores first open, so head out on weekday mornings. The shelves will be fully stocked and organized. Sales reps will be well-rested and more likely to help you out.
  • Team up with a friend. Shopping with a friend is fun and can actually make the trip easier. You’ll also have a second opinion to help you choose your gifts.
  • Pack a snack. Stash a package of sunflower seeds or a banana in your purse for a quick, easy pick-me-up. Both snacks are rich in vitamin B which will spike the levels of the feel-good hormone serotonin. This will boost your mood and given you an extra burst of energy.

If you plan ahead, you can make the holiday-shopping experience a pleasurable one. Remember why you are buying these gifts and who you are buying for and you can make it through this shopping experience.
